September 7, 2013: Ford India that launched the compact SUV EcoSport in India in June this year at a very competitive pricing, has now increased the prices of all its variants. Depreciating Rupee value has been said to be the reason behind the price hike. EcoSport prices have now been increased by Rs 30,000 to Rs. 40,000, making the base 1.5-litre petrol Ambiente cost Rs 5.82 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) . The top-end variant's price has now gone up by around Rs 37,000, while the 1.0-litre EcoBoost Optional variant now costs Rs. 38,000 higher.

Maruti Swift
July 2, 2013: India's leading carmaker, Maruti Suzuki India has now launched a special edition version of its famous premium hatchback Swift called the “Swift RS ” in the country. To be sold in a limited number, Swift RS will be made available only in VXi (Petrol) and VDi (Diesel) variants with an extra sum of Rs. 24,500. The Swift RS has come up with several styling updates, which gives it a distinct sporty character and looks. It has now been offered with a signature RS 3-piece body kit that includes front and rear bumper enrichment and a roof spoiler. It also gets specifically designed black and blue motorsport inspired graphics, which enhances its sporty quotient. For the first time, black wheel covers are being introduced in the Swift RS. The outside rear view mirrors come in the signature theme colour of blue. The Swift RS is equipped with an illuminated Swift emblem at the sill on all four doors. Inside the cabin as well, it now has art leather black and blue coloured upholstery, which complement the RS signature graphic style on the exteriors. This special edition of Swift has a high-end music system with CD player, AUX-in and USB facility.

Hyundai Grand i10
November 7, 2013: Hyundai has launched the automatic variant in the Grand i10 line up in petrol fuel trim. The automatic Grand i10 is now available in two trim levels- Sportz and Asta. Former is priced at Rs. 5.95 lakhs, while the latter one costs around Rs. 6.23 Lakhs ( ex. showroom, Mumbai). Both these variants are locked up with a four-speed automatic gearbox. The petrol model is powered by a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder Kappa engine that churns out a maximum power output of 82bhp and 115Nm of top torque. Speculations are rife that Hyundai may also bring an automatic variant in diesel fuel trim too.

Honda Amaze
June 6, 2013: Japanese carmaker Honda Cars India that launched its first diesel car Amaze in India in April, has now hiked its prices by upto Rs. 8,000. Honda had revised the prices of City, Brio and Accord in April only, has now in the second price hike phase also increased the prices of CR-V. The CR-V prices have now gone up by Rs. 6,000-14,000, depending upon the variant. Honda Amaze has been doing quite decent for the company, in May 2013 sales, the Amaze accounted for more than half of the company's total sales, which helped Honda achieve the no. 4 position in the Indian car market.

Renault Duster
December 2, 2013: The French automaker Renault has officially unveiled the Duster facelift, which will launch in the Indian car market as well. The exact launch date of the vehicle is yet to be announced, but we expect it to be showcased at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo. It now features a dual-tone chrome grille, restyled headlamps with double-optic units and Daytime running lamps, new roof bars, revised tail lamps, redesigned scuff plates and chrome-tipped exhaust pipe. The interiors of the car looks similar to the regular model, but it gets a new instrument cluster, steering-integrated control and a new centre console with Renault's infotainment system. The facelift is expected to be powered by the same 1.5-litre k9k diesel and a 1.6-litre petrol mill. It is also expected to feature a new 1.2-litre TCe turbocharged petrol engine, which will be mated to a six-speed manual transmission.

May 2, 2013: India's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki celebrated the fifth anniversary of its flagship compact sedan, Swift Dzire in style. MSI invited over 62 customers with their familes to take part in Mumbai. The Dzirable Mileage Rally celebration was held in 31 cities across the country last weekend. Mr. Gurdeep singh was given the crown for achieving the best mileage of 45.8kmpl in the diesel category, while Mr. Shrirang Chindarkar won in the petrol category by achieving 42.1kmpl mileage.

November 6, 2013: Mahindra & Mahindra has silently introduced the entry level 'W4' model of its popular SUV, XUV500. It has been priced at Rs. 10.83 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The XUV500 W4 model is powered by a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine that churns out a maximum power output of 140bhp and 330Nm of top torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission, which transmits power to front wheels. 28th-Mar-2012: Hyundai India has finally slipped in the next generation Hyundai i20 priced at Rs 4.73 lakh . The i-Gen i20, available in 12 variants comes in both petrol and diesel variants. Nissan Terrano
October 9, 2013: Nissan India has finally launched the Terrano SUV in India for Rs. 9.58 lakh (ex-showroom, Chennai). The Terrano is based on the highly popular Duster, however, the company has made enough changes to make it look different and refresh. While, the front facade of the SUV gets new bumper, an all-new grille and headlamps, the rear sports a new tail-lights. The Terrano is powered by the same 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine with two power outputs - 84bhp and 109bhp. The single petrol variant of the SUV gets the same 1.6-litre powertrain. It will compete against the likes of Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster and Mahindra Scorpio.

October 5, 2013: Toyota India has today launched the updated Toyota Innova, which has gone through some changes both inside and out. However, among all the trims, only GX and VX trims have received changes, while the E and G Grade remain all the same in both BS III & BS IV. Also, Toyota has introduced a new top-end Z Grade, which has been priced at Rs 15.06 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). As of now , Hyundai India is offering four speed automatic transmission in Verna’s top end SX (O) variant. Also, the carmaker is offering reversing camera (usually offered on high-end cars) as standard across all the variants. The camera works only when the reverse gear is active and helps in parking mostly. This is a much better feature compared to reverse parking sensors present in rival cars.

25 May, 2012 : Mahindra Bolero, the flagship Sports utility vehicle from homegrown manufacturer Mahindra has clocked in 1, 00,686 units in FY 2011-12 registering a 21% increase. Bolero was once again bestowed with the highest selling SUV title in India for the sixth consecutive year; also this was the highest annual sales garnered by the Bolero since it came into being. In March 2012, only the SUV managed 10,026 unit sales which is also the highest ever monthly sales till now. Mahindra Bolero sold 83,112 units of sales in 2010-11 FY. M&M’s Bolero has risen up to the seventh position in the top selling passenger vehicles in India in FY 2011-12 from the 9th position it had in the year 2010-11. Noticeably Mahindra Bolero is the only SUV to feature in the top selling passenger vehicles in India.

Hyundai i10
September 24, 2013: Hyundai India has stopped selling the i10 hatch with 1.2-litre Kappa2 petrol engine, that powers the two top end variants of i10 - the Sportz and Asta. The vehicle is now available in two variants - the Era and Magna. These models are powered by the 1.1-litre iRDE engine that churns out maximum output power of 68bhp and 99Nm of peak torque. With the discontinuation of the two top-end models, the automatic transmission option will also be removed from the i10 lineup. The pricing of the top-of-the line i10 models were getting too close to the Grand line up, which has forced the company to take such a decision.

Chevrolet Beat
30th-Jan-2012 : New Chevrolet Beat diesel is now accorded the title of ‘Most fuel efficient car’ by delivering 25.44 kmpl, thus surpassing the Tata Indica eV2 which was until now claimed to be the small car associated with highest mileage of 25 kmpl in the country. September 30, 2013: Maruti Suzuki India has silently introduced the Alto k10 musiK Edition in the Indian car market. It is basically a limited edition vehicle, which is launched to attract buyers and improve the sales during the festive season. The musiK Edition of the Alto K10 comes with 10 additional features. As the name suggests, the vehicle gets more components related to music such as JVC MP3 player with USB and four inch front speakers. The vehicle also gets body graphics, rear spoiler, mud flaps, ambient lighting, new seat covers, steering cover and universal mats. The company hasn't revealed the pricing details of the hatchback, but it is likely to be priced slightly higher than the standard model.

Skoda Rapid
October 16, 2013: Skoda India has silently introduced the 2014 Rapid in India, and now it is priced at Rs. 8.04 lakh (ex-showroom. Delhi) for the base Ambition Plus 1.6 MT. The updated Rapid sedan is now available in two trim lines only- Ambition Plus and Elegance. The Ambition Plus model gets dual front airbags, ABS, a new music system with USB, AUX-in, MP3, SD card slot and bluetooth telephone connectivity, steering mounted audio controls and others. The Elegance model receives all the above features along with with the projector headlights. The new Rapid is powered by the same 1.6-litre MPI petrol engine and a 1.6-litre diesel engine that develops 104bhp, 153Nm and 104bhp, 250Nm, respectively. While the petrol model gets both 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission, the diesel model only gets five-speed manual option.

October 19, 2013: Volkswagen India that launched the Vento TSI, has now launched the Vento "Corporate Edition" accessory pack in the Indian car market. The accessory pack can be installed to all the variants of the sedan. The accessory pack is available free of costs, and comes equipped with eight additional features including Alloy wheels, trunk spoiler, mud flaps, door protection, window chrome set, navigation system with rear view camera, seat covers and door step garnish. The Volkswagen Vento is available in both petrol and diesel versions - 105PS, 1.6-litre petrol engine and a 105PS, 1.6-litre diesel engine. The petrol model is available in both five-speed manual and six-speed automatic transmission, while the diesel model only available in a 5-speed manual gearbox.
